In Greek mythology, AVANTIA ASPIS, was a battle shield that belonged to king AVAS of Argos, son of Lygeas and Hypermistra. The shield was gifted to him by the previous owner, his grandfather Danaos.
The name AVAS in greek means “the one that doesn’t yield”, he who always moves forward.
AVANTIA ASPIS was legendary in ancient Greece, as it was believed that had the magic ability to induce terror to the enemy and at the same time provide total protection to its owner.
King AVAS was believed to be the clansfather of the ancient Greek clan AVANTES. A clan of commandos that was distinguished for its unique endurance in battles and perceived to have been key warriors in Trojan War. Homer mentions their excellency in close combat .
Trying to live up, at least in some level, to Greek nation’s history, we used all of our love, respect and knowledge to this project. Characteristics that mainly derive from the historical journey of the Greeks and their achievements through time.
In AVAS MARINE we construct our boats to be like “AVANTIA ASPIS”, always protecting captains and passengers so that they will never yield.
Safely moving forward with AVAS.
